    Notes
    • The families of Joseph Burket and his sons-in-law, Abraham Shearer and
Philip Younce, migrated from Ashe County, NC, to Ohio in 1811.  Does anyone
know if Philip's older brother, George Younce, and his family was in this
party?  If not, what were the circumstances of George Younce's migration to
Ohio?  He was of Miami County, Ohio, on February 6, 1815, when he bought
land in Section 13, Union Township, Miami County.

      Hi Doug,

I tend to disagree with the 1813 date as Philip's second child was
purportedly born 23 July 1811, Miami County, Ohio.  The first child was
purportedly born 6 May 1809, in Kentucky, possibly en route from NC to OH.
If anything, Philip Younce possibly entered Ohio even earlier that his
Burket father-in-law and his Shearer brother-in-law.  Whichever year Philip
came, the question still remains about which year his brother George came.

I agree with Gale that Joseph Burket was married to Mary Hoover.  Although
not proven, the marriage is based on a substantial amount of circumstantial
evidence.  I am working on the possibility that it was her second marriage
and his first marriage.  Joseph Burket and Mary Hoover were living in the
Uwharrie Brethren Settlement area of Randolph County, NC, before migrating
to the New River Brethren Settlement area of Wilkes County, NC, in 1787
("Formation of the New River Brethren Settlement in North Carolina,
1787-1790," MENNONITE FAMILY HISTORY, April 2010, pp. 83-95).
