Entry No 65, On 14 May 1867 at the Parish Church, Great Carlton, Lincolnshire Ephraim SNOWDON aged 25 Bachelor Shepherd of Burwell father William SNOWDEN Shepherd to Lucy WATSON aged 24 Spinster, Servant of Great Carlton father John WATSOn Labourer. Married in the Parish Church in the Parish of Great Carlton in the County of Lincoln by me Frederic Purnam Rector. Both Ephraim and Lucy signed the register. Witnesses were Isaac COUPLAND and Eliza Finners. === Son William appears on the 1871 Kelstern census as being age 9. This places his birth at about 1862--which is about 5 years before the marriage of Ephraim and Lucy. As a result, it is possible that either Ephraim or Lucy were married prior to this marriage; or that a child was born out of wedlock. An optional theory is that Lucy's "middle" name of Allet is actually her maiden name, or her surname from a prior marriage. This needs to be reviewed and researched. === [6]

  Lindsey, Lincolnshire Court Record Ephraim was acquitted of "Felonious killing a gelding" Dated July 3, 1913 This has been assumed to be Ephraim Snowden, Junior--who would have been about 41 years of age. His father, of the same name, would have been 71 years of age. This will require further research; but is added to keep track of this event.
