(vi) Emma J. Sylvester; born 31 May 1843.
(vii) John S. Sylvester, Jr.; born 13 June 1845. John was killed May 1863 while in the Union army.
(viii) Sarah Sylvester; born 4 March 1847.
(ix) Julia A. Sylvester; born 10 August 1848; married Benjamin A. Norman; born 23 September 1844. Benjamin was a Civil War veteran, Union Army (Company I and Company G, 34th Iowa Volunteer Infantry), participated in the first siege of Vicksburg. Their children were John Sylvester, Charles V. Sylvester; Estelle Gertrude Sylvester; and Pearl Aubrey Sylvester, who married Grisson Grimes.
(x) Monterville Sylvester; born 20 October 1852; married Adaline Beasley, moved to Montana.
(xi) infant daughter; died 27 March 1854.
(xii) Cinderella Sylvester; born 21 November 1856; killed by lightning 24 June 1879. According to page 191 in Howell and Smith (eds.) History of Decatur County, Iowa, and its peope (1915), Cinderella was a teacher. She was coming home from her [Stringtown] school with her niece Nellie Sylvester, age 6, . . ."They took refuge from the storm in an old cabin but the wind tore off the roof and they were both killed by lightning."
